Valerie Simms, Director of Arts Diverse-City, is a dedicated advocate for culture, heritage, and education in Gloucester. Her leadership at Arts Diverse-City, a Community Interest Company, is driven by a profound commitment to celebrate the diverse tapestry of cultures within the community. Through collaborative initiatives with like-minded artists, collaborators, and stakeholders, Valerie has created a platform that bridges cultural divides and empowers local talent.
Valerie's work emphasizes the preservation and promotion of Gloucester's cultural and historical legacies. Her events dedicated to Black culture, fashion, and wearable art serve as vibrant celebrations that instill a sense of pride and unity within the community. Beyond her role at Arts Diverse-City, Valerie is a founder and trustee of OpenDoors 4U, an organisation that passionately advocates for young people with additional learning needs, ensuring they have a voice and the support they need. Her dedication to diversity in Gloucester is a guiding principle, striving for an inclusive and harmonious society.
In her collaborative partnerships with entities like Artists, BBC Radio, GFM Radio, Strike Alight, Arts Shape, All Nation Community Centre, and Gloucester City Council, Valerie magnifies the impact of her vision, touching the lives of a broader community. Valerie Simms is a beacon of change, empowering individuals and fostering cultural appreciation, while advocating for the rights and inclusion of young people with additional learning needs in Gloucester's diverse community.
We are thrilled to introduce Regina, a remarkable addition to the Arts Diverse-City family. Regina embodies the warmth, compassion, and strength of a devoted mother of two, complemented by a friendly demeanor and a calm, welcoming presence. Her wide-ranging passions—from her love for cooking and the arts to her joy in music—highlight her vibrant, multifaceted personality. Beyond her personal interests, she is actively involved in community-building efforts that champion inclusion and diversity, helping to create a true sense of unity wherever she goes.
Professionally, Regina is a dedicated mental health practitioner with a background in teaching French and Spanish. Her passion for equality and diversity drives her work, as she strives to empower individuals from all walks of life to overcome challenges and lead fulfilling lives. As a CPD-approved provider, researcher, and an emerging author, Regina brings an impressive academic background, including a master’s degree in inclusion and postgraduate certifications in education and psychological therapies.
